What is The EDS Clinic:

The EDS Clinic provides treatment over telehealth for chronic conditions that are typically left untreated and dismissed by traditional health care such as Ehlers Danlos Syndrome (EDS) and Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome, and other related conditions.

Challenges:

What challenges was The EDS Clinic facing prior to using Tellescope?

As part of their onboarding process, The EDS Clinic has to collect a lot of information about their patients to ensure they have all of the details and context about their prospective patient’s existing condition. Manually re-entering this data into their EHR, Elation was burdensome for their team.

Additionally, after collecting that information, The EDS Clinic had to manage multiple tools for patient communication and keeping track of tasks.

Key Challenges:

  • Having to re-enter information from surveys and intake forms into Elation Health EHR
  • None of the other off the shelf tools had the flexibility to fit their clinical processes
  • Lack of automation for keeping track of when previous messages were sent and following up with patients if they needed to do something
  • Didn’t have engineers to help build a more streamlined and automated system
  • Had to keep track of patient communication across Email, SMS, Secure Chat, and Phone Calls in separate places

Evaluation

When The EDS Clinic was evaluating CRMs they were looking for the following:

Easy to Setup and Customize:

  1. Could be set up quickly by one person: David, The EDS Clinic’s Practice Manager was the only non-clinician working for EDS Clinic when he purchased Tellescope. He needed to be able to easily configure the product while also managing the day-to-day activities of the clinic.
  2. Workflows could be customized for The EDS Clinic: Since The EDS Clinic is a virtual-only clinic and is working with a typically overlooked patient population, they needed to ensure they were able to customize the intake process and automate the sorting process to correctly assign patients to providers based on geography.

Centralize their Existing Tools:

  1. Manage Patient Communications in One Place: They had to use multiple-point solutions for patient communications and they wanted to manage all of their channels in a centralized place.

Integrates with EHR:

  1. Have Patient Profile Information Auto-Populate in EHR: Ability to automatically create patients in Elation with their corresponding custom fields after they were created in Tellescope.
  2. Add Form Responses to Elation: After patients filled out their forms, that information could automatically be added to the Elation.

Why The EDS Clinic Chose Tellescope?

“I checked out all the software I could find, but there wasn’t anything else that could meet all of our needs without an engineering team. I needed a tool that everybody on the team could fine-tune to match and improve our operational flow.” - David Harris, Practice Manager

How long did it take to go live with Tellescope?

“Getting set up was really easy. Finding time to set up Tellescope between visits was harder than actually setting up Tellescope. It was really easy to set up Tellescope to fit my care flow.” - David Harris, Practice Manager

What has been the impact of using Tellescope?

“Over time our operations have become more complex, and Tellescope has enabled us to scale the abilities our team without adding more people.” - David Harris, Practice Manager
